PETA is nothing if not controversial and their, "My Boyfriend Went Vegan" commercial is another perfect example of just how far they'll go.

Of course, PETA claims the ad was intended to be humorous and simply shows how veganism can improve your sex life. Many are raising eyebrows though as it seems to equate sex and pain when it comes to women.
Earlier this month, we commented on PETA's plans to release a porn site that would feature sexual videos as well as videos of animals being tortured. We found this to be an odd mix of imagery, but it seems that PETA wants to go even further down this path by merging the themes of sex and violence in this one ad campaign.
We will admit that it was distubing to see the half-dressed woman flinching and limping in a neck brace along the street. That kind of pain should never be a by-product of sex. We also feel it is just sad and pathetic to make light of abuse, no matter what the end goal.
Though PETA claims no harm and that the ad was intended to be funny, we think they are missing the mark with this kind of "humor". PETA has been essentially tone-deaf to the growing concerns of many of their long-time supporters. It will be interesting to see if they will have to change their tactics as people start to cease their support for the group over stunts like this.
